Walking in the rain

“WALKING IN THE RAIN” evolved after a trip to Paris, France. I was inspired as I was wandering about a less populated area one rainy evening. I noticed a wide array of colors that were emulating off the pools of water. The buidings’ reflections danced around a woman trudging along carrying her overpowering umbrella. A quiet, subdued mood is expressed in this painting but yet still captures the many brilliant colors that can be found even on a stormy night on a city street in Paris.

This canvas would work in a room with autumn shades of reds, oranges, browns, blacks and yellows, A variety of unique color tones would pop with this original work of art of Fall colored hues.

Boat art paintings - Boats of Nice, France

“BOATS OF NICE”

I was inspired to do this coastal painting while exploring a marina in Nice, France. It was a beautiful, summer afternoon and many of the local fisherman had already retired for the day. Their colorful boats were left unattended to allow me to enjoy the displays of teals, corals and aquas. I was awed by how just the local fishing boats could be so full of color and brilliance.

I painted this using only a palette knife to achieve the rough feel which gives a swaying motion of the old, sailboats bobbing in perfect unison on the waters of the Mediterranean Sea.

A beach or lake home, restaurant or office would make the perfect setting for this one of a kind coastal masterpiece.

Car Art Paintings: Lamborghini Countach

I have had a passion for as long as I can remember. My earliest memories are of cars and the ones I played with. In college, I had a poster of a Lamborghini Countach car art painting on my wall. Thought it was the wildest car I have ever seen. I still have that same poster today. So it was only natural to want to paint one. While traveling in Italy I saw a red one and being an Italian car, it was only fitting to see it on the roads of its home. I have now captured that day and the memories of the poster on canvas.

Car Art Paintings: Ferrari

Classic Ferrari painted in an mantage style. I used old photos of various Ferrari’s from its early days as a background in a subtle way so not to over power the painting but when you look closely, you will see classic Ferrari race cars, the drivers and Enzo Ferrari himself in the early days before he started the world’s famous automobile we know so well on the track and on the roads today.

The Volkswagen Beetle or as Americans refer to it as the “Bug” is an icon of automotive history. They were everywhere in the 1950s through the 2000s it seemed. Classic simple lines of German design. I never owned one but family members and friends did over the years. Even though I only painted the front half, people instantly recognize the “Bug”. Using only a palette knife, I wanted to achieve a fun feel to the painting.

Car Art Paintings: Pickup at Gas Station

48”x60” (122x152cm) Acrylic paint on canvas.

AVAILABLE FOR SALE Inquire about price

‘PICK UP AT A GAS STATION” is an iconic Americana painting. Awww…those days at a local gas station where people would not only fill up but stop and chat with neighbors and travelers alike. Those home town gas stations maybe gone forever but that nostolgic era is caught in this favorite classic rendition. The classic green 1950 Chevrolet 3100 Step-side pickup sitting beside a towering red gas pump is a special painting that will be a conversation piece for years to come.

This painting incorporates a unique blend of sand into the color pallet for an added texture to the ground. Place this gem with the lover of farmhouse decor or a rural office space to showcase your love of the USA. Color pallets of reds, greens and yellows with some antique furniture would enhance this beauty.

This All American painting is a one of a kind for someone who loves the “good ol days”

I took a break from painting for a couple years. Suddenly I felt inspired and this piece came from that. I’m a professional graphic artist and many of my paintings reflect how I see things. Bright colors, shapes and lines all come together when I paint. This classic Orange Crush soda bottle also reflects my love of the 1950s. Its shape and color came to life on canvas using a palette knife as my tool.

Pop Art Paintings: Bob's Big Boy

36”x36” (91.4x91.4cm) Acrylic paint on canvas.

AVAILABLE FOR SALE Inquire about price

Bob's Big Boy is a restaurant chain founded by Bob Wian in Southern California in 1936, originally named Bob's Pantry. At its peak in 1989, there were over 240 Bob's locations throughout the United States, most belonging to Marriott. By August 2019, only five Bob's Big Boy Restaurants remain in operation, all in Southern California.

I remember Bob’s Big Boy very well as a child traveling across the country with my family. It was a treat to go in and the decor always caught my eye. You did not have to read the sign on the building, just seeing the statue in front was all it took to know where you were. I still have a Bob’s Big Boy plastic bank shaped like the famous statue today! That bank inspired me to create this painting.

Memories of family road trips across the United States and Canada. The country seemed so big back then. Everything seemed big back in the 1960s-70s. I guess I knew from a young age I was destin to be an artist. I was so taken by the huge, bright colors and neon of the signs of the era. Calling you to come to come by and see. Life was simpler back then and family road trips was part of growing up.

As a child and still today, cars are a passion. My parents did a lot of travel and would always bring back toy cars from other countries. One that stuck out was the Lotus Formula race car. Lotus green with the helmet of the driver sticking out behind the winshield or “wind screen” as known in the UK. That car always was one of my favorite toys and I wish I still had it today. I painted this as a memory of the grand time of the 1960s Formula Racing.

This painting was a tribute the courageous race car drivers of the 1930s-40s. Open cockpits with nothing but a leather style helmet for protection. Ant photos of that time are black and white. I wanted to make the painting bright and full of life. To make you feel the excitement, thrill and yes, danger that the drivers of those times felt.

This was a commission piece. The late 1940s to early 1950s chevy pickups have become quite popular with the automotive crowd. I personalized it by adding the clients name along with classic icons of the day. Route 66 sign and vintage gas pump. For added effect, I added sand to the ground to give it a texture.
